1. Please don’t harass the bell ringers, they are volunteers who often don’t know the details of how shitty the organization is.
2. Don’t give to Salvation Army, seriously. Aside from their general homophobic and transphobic behavior and activities, they have recently been caught entrapping undocumented immigrants by offering help and then turning them over to ICE, which has been committing grave abuses against humanity for months if not years now.
DO NOT GIVE TO THE SALVATION ARMY. They are liars and abusers on the organizational level.
One of the most interesting things I’ve noticed about non-natives appropriating our stuff is they never want anything but sage, smudging, and feathers.
Native people will share: our food, our music, our dancing, our art.
But no one is interested in those. They don’t CARE about our food and music. We never see those things in popular culture. Non-natives just want to take our religious items, because they feel entitled to the things people don’t want to share.
